Privacy

footballtomatoes is a watch guide. You can use all of it without an account, and it runs no ads or third-party trackers.

Without an account

Your filters, followed teams, spoiler setting and chosen location stay on your device, in local storage or small cookies. A location you pick for "Near me" is rounded to about 11 km before it is saved, and it is only sent to the server as part of the page address when you open that page. The server does not store it.

With a Google account

If you sign in with Google we receive your email address and Google's account identifier for you, and we store them with the time you signed in. We do not receive your Google password or access anything else in your Google account.

Signing in sets one cookie that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days. The server stores only a hash of it. Signing out deletes the session.

When you are signed in, your browser's user agent string is stored with each session, so you can recognise and sign out your devices on your account page.

If you save a location for near-match emails, we store its name and coordinates on your account. The coordinates are rounded to about 1 km before they are saved, and they are used only to send you those emails. Deleting the location or your account deletes them.

Analytics

We count page views and a few button clicks with self-hosted Umami. Umami sets no cookies, collects no personal data and does not store IP addresses. It respects the browser's Do Not Track setting, and only visits to our own domain are counted.

What is counted: each page you open, and clicks on a few controls such as the watch guide filters, "Add to calendar", following a team or competition, rating a match, the watchlist, hiding scores, sharing a match and installing the app. We never record scores, results, your email address or your location.

On a small sample of visits, the same Umami also records where on a page people click and how far they scroll, to build heatmaps of which parts of a page get used. It does not record what you type, and we do not record replays of visits.

Deleting your data

Sign in, open your account page and use the "Delete account" link, or go straight to Delete account. The button there deletes your account and everything linked to it — your ratings, followed competitions, watchlist, saved locations, notification settings, push devices and sign-in sessions. It happens immediately and cannot be undone.

Hosting and data sources

The site is hosted in the EU. Match data comes from football-data.org; your browser does not contact them.
